My Top Podcast Episodes That I Listened To This Summer
I was skeptical of podcasts for a while. The concept never appealed to me, but after listening to my first one — I was hooked! I like to listen when I’m on a walk, doing the dishes, folding laundry, and even with my boyfriend on a long drive. A good podcast is extremely engaging and can make even annoying chores feel enjoyable! I highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't yet.
Unsurprisingly, most of the podcasts that I listen to are health and wellness related because it's my passion! I compiled a list below of my favorite podcasts that I listened to this summer. You’ll notice that some of the episodes have the same guest, but that’s just because I love hearing from certain people and always find value in a new interview. I hope you find at least one episode that interests you!
Note: I listened to all of these podcasts on the “Podcasts” app, but I linked all listening options below.
I'm a firm believer that a solid morning routine sets you up for success and productivity for your entire day. The women interviewed in this podcast are some of my favorite people to follow on Instagram and I found listening to their morning routines to be very motivating. It’s always helpful to hear what works for other people so you can try it out for yourself. Who knows- you may discover your new fave morning activity!
This episode also features a group of women who inspire me on Instagram, so of course I had to listen to a second one about morning/evening routines. An important part of my daily routine is “time-blocking”, which is a scheduling tool that is especially helpful for those who feel overwhelmed by to-do lists. If you want to learn more about "time-blocking", I recommend listening to what Inspiralized has to say about it in this episode.
Liz Moody is one of the best interviewers out there, which is why I love listening to her podcasts. She asks Dr. Will Bulsiewicz incredible questions regarding how to protect and improve gut health. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz recently released his first book, Fiber Fueled, which is my absolute favorite health book. It has inspired me to focus on the diversity of plants in my diet in order to support my gut health. If you don’t love reading, but want to learn more about his methodology, then give this a listen!
Jordan Younger, host of the Balanced Blonde, and Sophie Jaffe are actual friends in real life, which makes this episode extra exciting. Sophie goes into depth about radical transparency and how she follows her intuition. She talks about how you can go on a bike ride when you are in another country and just get lost — follow your intuition. Since listening to this episode, I have noticed myself following my intuition more often.
Call Her Daddy: Episode 92 - MILEY CYRUS
The Call Her Daddy podcast isn’t for everyone since it’s all about sex and relationships. Alex Cooper, the host of this podcast, interviewed Miley Cyrus. Yeah, you heard that right…MILEY! They talk about heartbreak, trauma, therapy, guilt, sexuality, drugs, relationships with men, women, and even Hannah Montana. No topic is off limits in this podcast, so call your besties, grab your popcorn, and a glass of wine!
Cameron Rogers, host of Freckled Foodie & Friends, is a certified health coach with a mission to make healthy living approachable. Cameron and Kelly Leveque are both boss babes and it's inspiring to hear them talk about building their side hustles into full-time careers. Kelly speaks about “the fab four” fundamentals, which is a fun way to make sure your plate is balanced, leading to fewer cravings and increased energy levels.
Rachel’s podcast is one of my absolute faves and you guessed it- she's also one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram. Her IG handle is @rachlmansfield and you will probably love her just as much as I do because her food is mouthwatering. Rachel and Melissa have an incredible connection. Melissa talks about her relationship with her husband, her approach to working out, her disordered relationship with food, eating a plant-based diet, and motherhood. Rachel and Melissa talking to each other sounds like two of your besties having a convo and it makes you want to just jump right in and join the discussion!
You might know Alex from @thedefineddish on Instagram or maybe you’ve heard about her cookbook, The Defined Dish. In this podcast, Alex talks about the process of writing a cookbook and her experience traveling for her cookbook tour. I especially loved hearing about how Alex got started with her food blog and how it has evolved.
This podcast, hosted by Arielle Lorre, is all about how to achieve optimal health, well-being, fulfillment, beauty hacks, and more! You won’t regret it if you subscribe. I love listening to Sophie Jaffe on any podcast because she is always extremely positive and inspiring. Throughout this podcast, Sophie covers everything from her relationship with Adi Jaffe, balancing family and work, the importance of asking for help, and how to find balance instead of living in extremes.
Kelly Leveque is a holistic nutritionist, wellness expert, and celebrity health coach. She is certified as a Health Coach through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition — the same course that I am taking! This is another great episode with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. He discusses all things gut health and fiber!
Dr. Uma Naidoo discusses the effects of food on our mental health because food is medicine. She is extremely knowledgeable and shares recommendations to improve your mood and your health. I recommend this episode to many of my clients!
Dana Suchow is an expert in the field of body image, self-love, and eating disorder prevention. As a coach, Dana gives parents, teachers, and caregivers the tools they need to raise children that love their bodies and themselves. Sophie, Adi, and Dana discuss body image, body positivity, and their own struggles. I think these topics are very important and not discussed frequently enough, so I highly recommend giving it a listen!
How I Built This with Guy Raz: LÄRABAR: Lara Merriken
The How I Built This podcast is about innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists. I recommend several episodes from this podcast because I love hearing about different innovators and their journeys. There is something to learn from every person and their struggles.
LÄRABARS are my favorite bar because they are delicious, contain natural sugars, and they have very few ingredients. These bars are also dairy-free, gluten-free, kosher, non-gmo, soy-free, and vegan. My favorite flavor is Coconut Cream Pie and it only has 5 ingredients — dates, unsweetened coconut, almonds, cashews, and extra virgin olive oil. I'm a huge fan of LARABARS, so it was a no-brainer to listen to the founder's inspiring journey!
How I Built This with Guy Raz: Stacy’s Pita Chips: Stacy Madison
If you haven’t had a Stacy’s Pita Chip then you must go to your local store right now and buy a bag. They are the best chip out there and you can’t go wrong with any of the flavors. Before this company was founded, Stacy and her boyfriend Mark Andrus were giving out pita chips for free to customers waiting on their sandwich shop line. Their story is incredible and I think you will really enjoy it too!
How I Built This with Guy Raz: Live Episode! Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP: Angie & Dan Bastian
Angie and Dan went into business because they wanted some extra money to put their kids through college. Their company was originally called Angie’s Kettle Corn, but then it changed to BOOMCHICKAPOP. This couple is really sweet and inspiring, so definitely give this episode a listen and grab some BOOMCHIKAPOP!
How I Built This with Guy Raz: Tate’s Bake Shop: Kathleen King
Kathleen King, baker and founder of Tate’s Bake Shop, has an incredible story. She discusses the struggles of opening a small bake shop and going into business with the wrong people. Her story has so many twists and turns, but I don’t want to give anything away- listen for yourself to find out more!
How I Built This with Guy Raz: Chicken Salad Chick: Stacy Brown
Truthfully, I didn’t even know what Chicken Salad Chick was until I listened to this podcast. I was hesitant to listen because I didn’t know the company, but I’m glad I did because this is truly one of my favorite podcast episodes. I got so emotional from a part of Stacy’s story that I actually cried. And as you can imagine, I was seriously craving some chicken salad after listening!
